The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the sub factors of co-rumination on depressive symptoms and the moderating effects of emotional clarity between the sub factors of co-rumination and depressive symptoms in adolescents. The subjects comprised 170 high school students. The results were as follows: First, depressive symptoms revealed a positive relationship with an adolescent¡¯s ¡®ruminative discussion on a problem¡¯ and a negative relationship with emotional clarity. Second, only adolescent¡¯s ¡®ruminative discussion on a problem¡¯ was seen to have a significant effect on depressive symptoms. Third, emotional clarity proved to have a significant moderating effect on the relationship between an adolescent¡¯s ¡®ruminative discussion on a problem¡¯ and depressive symptoms. Thus, this study confirmed the importance of taking emotional clarity into account when examining the relation between an adolescent¡¯s ¡®ruminative discussion on a problem¡¯ and depressive symptoms.
